The members of the Ark Angel Station decided to meet at an Irish pub for St. Patrick’s Day instead of meeting at one our houses, but we went to an English pub. We chose Emerald Tavern Games & Cafe on Research Blvd. We reserved a table for 6 hours from 1p to 7p, but met an hour and a half beforehand to have some food for lunch and so our table and the games didn’t get dirty. The food and beverages were very good. I had a London Fog tea drink and it was delicious. I also had the Fish & Chips, which was also delicious, but too abundant for my appetite as of late. The fish fillets were huge, so I only ate 1 of 2. John Halliday, who came later, ate some of my second fillet. I also ordered an appetizer that I don’t remember the name but it was VERY, very good, with melted brie on top of toast (bruschettas) with a blackberry sauce that you top it with. Very yummy.

We had 5 members present and played three games and had much conversation. First game was Down Force, where I slaughtered all of them with my blue car, with the wild card special ability. The second game was Steampunk Ralley, which we played at the February meeting. I didn’t play that game, but helped newbie play, while I did a crochet project. Steampunk Rally is very fun and because some of the phases of play are on your own, it can go very fast. The third game was Splendor. I think it was the first time I beat Kathy in that one.

If you haven’t been to Emerald Tavern, you should check it out. Besides gaming tables (some are free, some are pay for), they have a great bar with coffee and tea as well as liquor and great food selections. Additionally, they have games for sale and for rent to play at your table. If you pay for a table, the rental fee is waived. They also had paint and supplies for supplementing games, like creating miniatures.

Our next meeting day is scheduled for April 21.
